Location & Facilities
Where is the riding centre located?
Yattalunga Riding Centre is nestled between the stunning Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley wine regions, a short 40 minute drive from the Adelaide CBD.
You can find us at 1255 Gawler-One Tree Hill Road One Tree Hill, with entry via the signposted driveway. Please follow the driveway until you reach a closed gate with security code panel. Once you enter the code (provided with your booking confirmation), continue along the road to the left until you reach the second stable building. Parking is to the left of the stable, near the house and sheds.
On arrival, please sign-in at our reception area, which is located inside the stable (first stall on left through the double green doors).
Please note: entry is strictly by appointment only - we are unable to accomodate walk-in bookings or enquiries.
What facilities are at the riding centre?
Our centre is equipped with a range of facilities, including a fully-fenced sand arena, stable complex, reception area, multiple riding trails, customer parking, men's and women's toilets and a grass picnic area. Light refreshments, including grazing platters and drinks, can also be ordered at booking.

Rider Information
How early should I arrive for my ride?
We require all participants to be onsite at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled trail ride or lesson. This is to ensure we have enough time to check or fit your helmet, to make sure you have completed the safety briefing and waiver form, and to answer any questions you may have.
What should I wear and bring?
We REQUIRE all riders to wear:
- closed, ankle-height shoes or boots, preferably with a flat sole and raised heel.
- a comfortable shirt or top with full length sleeves. Lightweight, breathable fabrics are recommended for warmer weather, and jackets on cooler days.
- full-length pants, jeans or jodhpurs.
- sunscreen (please ensure your hands are sufficiently dry after applying sunscreen to prevent the reigns from becoming slippery).
We DO NOT PERMIT riders to wear the following:
- steel-capped boots (this style of boot gets stuck in the stirrups, which can be a significant safety issue during an unintended dismount or emergency situation).
- Pants made from slippery material (tracksuits etc).
In addition to appropriate clothing, please ensure you bring an adequate amount of drinking water with you for the ride.
Do you provide helmets or can I bring my own?
We provide all riders with a helmet at no additional cost, however you are welcome to bring your own if preferred. If supplying your own helmet, please note:
- it must be compliant with current Australian Manufacturing Standards;
- be less than 10 years of age; and
- be free from cracks and damage.
One of our instructors will inspect your helmet for condition and correct fit prior to the ride. If your helmet is deemed unsuitable, you will be required to use one of ours for the duration of the ride.
Is there a minimum age for riders?
Riders must be at least 10 years of age to take part in trail rides. Our arena lessons are suitable for riders aged 5 years and above.
Can my child ride with me on one horse?
No - this is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
Will you wait for me if I'm running late?
Due to our busy client schedule, we are unable to delay start/departure times for trail rides or lessons. Failure to arrive at least 30 minutes before your ride will be deemed a cancellation, with no refund available. Please ensure you plan ahead and allow sufficient travel time to our facility.
Can I film or take photos?
Phones and cameras are permitted at the riding centre, however we please request these are used in a manner which does not negatively impact other riders, guests or the horses. Please ensure:
- you DO NOT use a phone or camera for any purpose while mounted in the arena;
- you only use phones or cameras on trail rides by prior agreement, and under the direction of, your guide;
- your phone is on 'silent' mode at all times while on our premises;
- you do not take photos or videos of other riders or instructors/guides without their consent;
- your personal items are securely stored and not left unattended.
Guests or participants who do not respect and comply with these rules will have their ride cancelled and be asked to leave the property.
Please note, while every effort is made to ensure Yattalunga Riding Centre is a safe and secure environment, the owners and staff are not responsible or liable for any loss or damage of personal items which occurs at our facility.
Can I feed and pat the horses?
No. For the health and safety of our horses, and those here on agistment, we STRICTLY PROHIBIT guests feeding any horses on the property. Some horses may have health or dietary issues, therefore unsolicited feeding may result in serious health complications or death.
Any guest found feeding the horses will be asked to leave the property. If a guest feeds a horse which consequently results in a health issue, they will also be liable for any associated veterinary costs.
We also respectfully request guests do not pat the stable and paddock horses unless invited to do so by an owner or our staff. Please be aware this is a shared facility and not all horses belong to Yattalunga Riding Centre. Unsolicited patting and feeding of any horse is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
Can I explore the property on my own?
No. Guests are NOT PERMITTED to wander around the property or stable complex unaccompanied. Yattalunga Riding Centre is located on a private property, with access to the facilities shared with the owners and their agistment clients. We ask all guests to respect the privacy of the owners by staying within the marked visitor areas. We have a strict NO ENTRY policy for the stable block (for health and safety reasons) therefore any guest found in the stables unaccompanied will be asked to leave the property.
Can I drink alcohol on the property?
We want all of our guests and staff to enjoy safe riding experiences while at our facility, and for this reason we STRICTLY PROHIBIT anyone riding or handling our horses if we suspect they are under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.
We do provide complimentary wine with some of our gourmet platters, which you are welcome to enjoy on the grounds AFTER your session is completed. Please drink responsibly as we have a zero tolerance approach to drunken, disorderly or aggressive behaviour at the centre. Please do not bring your own alcoholic drinks onto the property.
Can I smoke at the riding centre?
No. For both health and fire safety reasons we DO NOT PERMIT smoking or vaping anywhere on the property.
Can I bring my dog/s?
No. Unfortunately, guests are NOT PERMITTED to bring dogs or other pets with them to the property.
